A Partnership

Landry and Arcari, Boston area premier Rug creators are partnering with local artists, Kathleen George and Jon Sarkin. These lines of rugs are modern in style, images taken from paintings by the artists and reconstructed with an eye to interior design.

From their site: “Landry & Arcari is a member of GoodWeave, an international nonprofit organization devoted to building schools, programs and opportunities that give children back their childhoods by ending child labor in the handmade carpet industry in South Asia. The GoodWeave label on a rug assures that the rug is child-labor-free.”

Paintings Transformed Into Rugs

The first rug was an amalgamation of two landscape paintings made with acrylic and copper leaf. Combined to create an altogether new image, overlapping the textures and trees with that big open sky, the rug shines with silver silk threads and carries the textures of the paintings in knotted hand-dyed wool. A phenomenal work. The first rug created is quite large, 13’ X 9’. Additional sizes of this rug can be made to order.

Second Rug

Jeff Arcari, owner and head designer wanted to create the next art rug using one of the early Copper Abstract paintings: Split Green Circles. He particularly loved the bright blue and copper carvings and wanted to replicate that with thread. This new design was based on that section of the painting, and was translated to softer gray tones for a gentle but intriguing modern rug.

The collaboration continues.
