City Lines

This series involves linear and geometric shapes to explore common aspects of a city: pipelines, wires, lamps, waterways, transportation, parks, buildings. It depicts aerial views as well as cross sections of the spaces city dwellers inhabit. The process of creating these paintings began with copper leaf and engraving, a continuation of the method I developed in “copper series,” but with a messier and less refined feel. This beautiful mess transformed into a simpler style, one that is actually similar to the first layer of each previous painting in the copper series.
